DRILL OR DROP? 
“Candlelit vigil” at KM.
I trust there will be an authorisation applied for and it will be fully monitored by the EA? Do these people never learn about the dangers to the climate and health through the burning of fossil fuels? Can’t they see there are cleaner and more environmentally friendly solutions-glow worms and fire flies, or burning whale blubber? Don’t they have any respect for the Paris “Agreement”? Shocking!
We shall be doing a candle lit vigil here in the garden on the Wednesday 13th, with my children and families, with some beeswax candles and careful close support for the youngest of course. Perhaps Third Energy, Cuadrilla, Angus et al, looking at their apparent inability to hold a candle operationally, and unable or unwilling to hold a candle to the British public, would benefit from similar close care and support?
Maybe students as yet unable to attend NCOOG could come along and learn how to hold a candle safely and hear about how the operators intend to burn everyone’s candle at the wrong end?
Man depended upon candlelight for light and prayers for thousands of years, no hydrocarbons involved. The forest fires in California are far worse, meanwhile people are trying to retrieve their lives IN Texas after hurricane Harvey, and will be doing so in Florida after Hurricane Irma and another waiting out at sea, where British citizens were ignored by the British authorities and no evacuation program in action. An 8.1 earthquake in the gulf of Mexico, the hurricane in India, clearly a lot to consider and hope for those people made homeless, hurt and killed by these events. So its not just KM8 and other sites, its across the entire planet.
Global Warming? Trump has banned the phrase, yeah, that is just more industry blinkers, if i cant see or hear or read about it, then it can’t be happening.

When the last tree Is cut down, the last fish eaten, and the last stream poisoned, you will realise that you cannot eat money.
Just a naive thought but why doesn’t everyone in the UK with a back garden plant a small tree or two (where it’s safe to do so) , surely a significant increase in green leaf area would help to reduce CO2.
Am I not right in thinking that whatever the harmful effects of higher co2, one positive effect has been a significant greening of the planet as a whole (higher estimated total leaf area); co2 is a fertiliser after all. Fish stocks are increasing at least in the North Sea due to EU conservation measures and our streams and rivers have not been cleaner for years, again due to sensible regulation. So fret not Pat, I don’t think we’ll be relying on the organic content of our fivers just yet.
By the way am I the only one who thinks the last two summers have seen the lushest growth in the countryside I can ever remember. Just normal variation I guess but good to se anyway.
If, by you, you mean me, I won’t! I will be long gone and probably not even a memory. I hope some of the trees I have planted, cared for and spent a lot of money maintaining, might still remain. I doubt it because by then some of the countries who have no intention of adhering to the Paris Agreement will have extended their greed to many corners of the globe (in addition to Africa, as is currently the case) resulting in global conflict-so trees, fish and streams will be a distant memory-if any memories still exist.

I sit watching an item on BBC news about the possible development of the lithium mining industry in Cornwall. Interesting to compare the reaction of the Green Party etc to this development to their reaction to the Blakpool Cuadrilla site. “Industrialisation of the rural landscape” etc.
