Helen Savage, a Balcombe villager who campaigns against fracking, has replied to comments by Averil Macdonald, the new chair of the industry body UK Onshore Oil and Gas.
Cuadrilla Resources has confirmed it has reported a fracking leaflet produced by Friends of the Earth to the Advertising Standards Authority, saying it was misleading and scaremongering. The company says it has also reported FoE to the Charity Commission.
The Guardian reports that the Environment Agency banned Cuadrilla from using a hazardous chemical in its well at Balcombe but gave permission for another substance, despite residents’ concerns.
