PM proposes individual payments to shale gas residents – opponents say it’s a bribe
The Prime Minister has intervened in proposals for a shale wealth fund to include an option to make direct payments to people affected by fracking.

New drilling and testing plans for “Gatwick Gusher”
The companies behind the Horse Hill oil well in Surrey, nick-named the Gatwick Gusher, announced details today of its plans for two new wells and more testing at the site.

Egdon applies for 15 years of oil production at Lincolnshire Wressle site
Consultations are underway into plans by Egdon Resources to produce oil, and possibly gas, from its Wressle well near Scunthorpe.
Government confirms ban on fracking from protected areas but refuses greater controls
The government has confirmed it will not allow fracking to be carried out from wells drilled at the surface of English protected areas, including National Parks, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and special wildlife sites.

IGas plan for Notts shale gas drilling at Tinker Lane open for comment
The public consultation on plans by IGas to explore for shale gas at a second site in north Nottinghamshire is now open. Tomorrow (Saturday 4 June 2016) there is an information day about the proposals for the site at Tinker Lane, organised by the local community liaison group.
Breaking: Planners recommend approval of Third Energy fracking plan in N Yorks
Plans by Third Energy to frack an existing well near the North Yorkshire village of Kirby Misperton have been recommended for approval.
Fracking: “Local people know best” – Minister
The energy minister, Andrea Leadsom, promised today there would be “no compromise” on taking account of the views of local communities on fracking.
