A council is being urged to refuse plans that would use a form of fracking to explore for gas at Burniston near the North York Moors National Park.
The MP for the North Yorkshire village of Burniston, where a form of fracking is planned, has called for a parliamentary debate on the issue.
UK onshore gas volumes fell for the fourth consecutive month in April 2025. Production was the lowest for 18 months, down 23% on March 2025.
