The councillors who will decide next week on Cuadrilla’s applications to frack in Lancashire have been named.
The 15-member committee will meet on Wednesday 28th January to decide on the application for the Preston New Road site. The decision on the Roseacre Wood site will be made on the afternoon of Thursday 29th or, if discussions overrun, on Friday 30th.
All but one of the committee (Labour’s Niki Penney) are men. Seven members represent Labour divisions, including the chair and deputy chair. Six members are Conservatives and the Lib Dems and Independents have one seat each.
The Independent, Paul Hayhurst, represents Fylde West and lives in Elswick, near the proposed Roseacre Wood site. He is also a member of Fylde District Council which voted to object to the planning applications.
Peter Buckley (Conservative), lives in and represents St Anne’s, not far from the Preston New Road Site at Little Plumpton. The other councillors on the committee represent divisions outside the Fylde district.
