Public must be onboard with ‘national mission’ for clean power, say experts. The Independent reports on a study by the Royal Academy of Engineering which looked at the process of shifting Britain’s power grid to clean power by 2030. It says the government must get the public onboard with the “mission” to deliver clean power by 2030 and spell out the benefits to them.

Five Just Stop Oil activists receive record sentences for planning to block M25. The Guardian and others report that five supporters of Just Stop Oil climate campaign have been sentenced to lengthy jail terms by a judge who told them they had “crossed the line from concerned campaigner to fanatic”. Roger Hallam, Daniel Shaw, Louise Lancaster, Lucia Whittaker De Abreu and Cressida Gethin were found guilty last week of conspiracy to cause a public nuisance for coordinating direct action protests on the M25 over four days in November 2022.
