Another eviction began early this morning to remove anti-drilling campaigners who occupied the Horse Hill oil site near Gatwick Airport. The final campaigners were removed at 5.45pm.
At about 4.30 this morning, campaigners said they occupied the so-called “Gatwick Gusher” oil site at Horse Hill in Surrey.
People who want to comment on plans for oil exploration in Balcombe – the West Sussex village at the centre of anti-fracking protests in 2013 – have two more days to submit their views.
The shale gas company, INEOS, has said some products which may be used at a proposed exploration site could cause cancer or birth defects if “permitted to escape”. They could also lead to mutations and were toxic to plants and animals.
