8th April 2014 After a batch of recent court cases arising from the protests against Cuadrilla’s oil exploration site at Balcombe, we thought it was worth summarising the outcomes of the legal action so far.
27th March 2014 Details emerged yesterday (Wednesday) of the long hours worked by police officers on duty at the Balcombe anti-fracking protests last August. Two officers, giving evidence at the trial of five campaigners including MP Caroline Lucas, said they worked shifts of 14-16 hours.
The cases against nearly half the people arrested at the anti-fracking protests outside Cuadrilla’s drilling site Balcombe have been dropped by police or prosecutors.
