Decision delayed on Rathlin’s West Newton-B drilling application
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has postponed its decision on Rathlin Energy’s planning application for a new drilling site at West Newton until after the May elections.
Rathlin blamed for bangs, smells and traffic
Rathlin Energy’s drilling operations in East Yorkshire have been heavily criticised by local people contributing to an official consultation. They accused the company of causing noise, damaging vibrations, light pollution, smells and extra traffic.

The Environment Agency is investigating what action to take against a Rathlin Energy exploratory drilling site in East Yorkshire as evidence emerges of more breaches of its permit conditions.
Campaign group calls for freeze on Rathlin Energy’s East Yorks operations
The Humberside and East Yorkshire Frack Off group has called for a suspension of Rathlin Energy’s activities in the region and an inquiry into the West Newton drill site. The call follows an investigation by DrillOrDrop.com into breaches of environmental permits at West Newton.
