Update on West Sussex oil and gas plans, spring 2014

Lower Stumble, Balcombe
West Sussex County Council’s planning committee grants planning permission on April 29th to Cuadrilla Balcombe Ltd for flow testing, a flare, security fencing and site restoration. Frack Free Balcombe Residents Association announces it is to consult lawyers on a judicial review of the decision.

Wood Barn Farm, Broadford Bridge, Near Billingshurst
Consultation period begins on April 30th for the application by Celtique Energie Weald Ltd to the Environment Agency for a Mining Waste permit (EPR/AB3806CG/A001). The consultation period runs until 30th May 2014. West Sussex County Council granted planning permission in February 2013.

Nine Acre Copse, Fernhurst
Celtique Energie announces on April 29th it has revised its planning application to the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) to drill an exploratory bore hole. It removes the optional horizontal well and updates the Environment Statement. Celtique Energie’s Chief Executive, Geoff Davies, says the SDNPA now has enough information to consider the application at its planning committee meeting on July 10th.

Boxal Bridge, Wisborough Green/Kirdford
West Sussex County Council’s planning committee is expected to decide the application by Celtique Energie to drill a vertical and horizontal well on Tuesday 24th June.
