Update on fracking and conventional oil and gas planning applications

Kirby MispertonThird Energy application to frack at Kirby Misperton

Councillors in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire agreed last night to delay making a recommendation on Third Energy’s plans to frack for shale gas at Kirby Misperton.

Officers at Ryedale District Council had recommended the planning committee object to the company’s planning application because they said Third Energy had not provided enough information on the impact on local heritage.

A spokesperson for the council said today additional information had been provided on Monday but this was too late for last night’s committee to consider.

Ryedale District Council (RDC), which is a statutory consultee on the application, has not yet set a date when it will make its recommendation. The next meeting of the RDC planning committee is at 6pm on Tuesday 1st December.

A decision on the application will be made by North Yorkshire County Council. It has been holding an additional public consultation period on the extra information. This runs until Wednesday 25th November 2015.

No date has been set for the application to be decided. The next scheduled planning committee meetings are on 15th December 2015 and 9th February 2016.
