Most of the notes about a recent meeting between a minister and the shale gas industry have been redacted “in the public interest” or because they contained confidential information, a government department has said.
The shale gas company, Cuadrilla, announced this afternoon it had applied to the government for consent to frack its second horizontal well at its Preston New Road site near Blackpool.

A panel of judges at an internationally-recognised tribunal has concluded that governments and industry have failed in their obligations to protect the public from the impacts of fracking.
