Council planners who have backed plans for lower-volume fracking in North Yorkshire have been warned they risk opening a “can of worms” over legal definitions.
Around 250 people took part in a march on Saturday (22 March 2025) against plans to explore for gas in the village of Burniston, near the North York Moors National Park.
Proposals to drill for gas and carry out a small-scale frack near the North York Moors National Park would have “significant impacts on the environment”, planners have said.
