The fracking company, Cuadrilla, has begun returning its Becconsall site in Lancashire to farmland after the county council refused another extension of planning permission.
Residents and experts have accused a shale gas company of not giving enough detail about how it would assess the impact of fracking on protected wildlife nearby.
Councillors in Lancashire have increased the rig height and the noise limit for restoration work at Cuadrilla’s shale gas site near the Ribble Estuary. But they refused the company’s request for longer working hours and an extended finish date.
Cuadrilla Resources is giving up on its exploratory shale gas site at Becconsall on the edge of the Ribble Estuary.
