The UK’s first public inquiry on the impact of an onshore gas site on climate change gets underway this morning.
The shale gas company, Cuadrilla, has less than a year to drill two wells and frack three under the terms of the planning permission at its site near Blackpool.
Opponents of plans by Rathlin Energy to drill another well in East Yorkshire have said they will monitor operations round the clock.
Edgon Resources confirmed this afternoon it had begun drilling its oil exploration well at Biscathorpe, near Louth in Lincolnshire.
A crane and other equipment was delivered to IGas’s shale gas site at Misson in north Nottinghamshire early this afternoon.
Images from the IGas site at Tinker Lane in north Nottinghamshire this morning confirm that the company has begun demobilising and removing equipment.
The number of onshore oil and gas wells drilled in the UK in 2018 was a 68-year low for the industry.
