West Sussex County Council confirmed (8/10/10) it is pursuing its legal action to take possession of roadside verges next to Cuadrilla’s exploration site at Balcombe, Anti-fracking campaigners have been camping along the verges since July. Last month, the council applied to the High Court for a possession order but the judge dismissed the case, describing it as flawed. The council had until October 8th to resubmit its application. In a statement the council said: “We will now be seeking a full [court] hearing for possession of the verges. There is still a roadside encampment on this busy, unlit road which has a 60 mph limit, and we believe the protestors are putting themselves and all road users at serious risk.”
