Opposition to fracking holds firm in Sussex

The veteran environment journalist, Geoffrey Lean, says there is no sign that opposition to fracking is softening in Sussex. This week Mr Lean chaired a meeting between Balcombe villagers and the Environment Agency. He says around 300 people attended the meeting and none of the questions or comments supported Cuadrilla’s operation near the village. Almost all were extremely hostile. In a his Daily Telegraph blog, Mr Lean writes:  “clearly, the politicians and shale gas supporters who sought to dismiss opposition to the Balcombe drilling as largely arising from professional protesters and environmentalists coming in from outside are way off beam.”
