Anti-frackers camp outside council HQ

The Midhurst and Petworth Observer reports that about 25 anti-fracking campaigners have camped on a lawn outside the headquarters of West Sussex County Council in Chichester. The campaigners, many of whom met at Balcombe, began their protest began yesterday (17/11/13). They say they plan to stay until at least tomorrow, when they will submit a statement detailing their concerns about planning applications being considered by the council for exploratory drilling.  A statement by Sussex Police said the force was aware of the protest.

Last week, a judge in the High Court approved an application by West Sussex County Council to take possession of roadside verges outside Cuadrilla’s site at Balcombe.
