Just a note to report that the little reported conflict in Yemen is reaching crisis point. The Bab el Mandeb strait at the Southern end of the Red Sea is threatened by the Iran backed Houthi militia who have attacked shipping including possibly Saudi tankers passing through. The Israelis threaten to become involved if their shipping is attacked. That is just the opportunity for the Houthis to provoke the Israelis into a heavy-handed response and draw in other Arab neighbours against the old foe Israel. Why is this relevant to Shale Gas, well it illustrates generally he fragility of worldwide oil and gas supplies. I suspect that in the end money will outweigh politics and the waterway will remain open but it’s certainly a volatile area, amongst many in the Middle East.
