Fracking is now underway at Cuadrilla’s s site near Blackpool, the government faces a legal challenge to its proposals to fast-track planning decisions and campaigners prepare for the next phase of their fight against shale gas.
Cuadrilla says this month it expects to carrying out the first UK high volume hydraulic fracturing since 2011. October also sees the deadline for comments in the government consultation on proposals to change the planning rules for shale gas.
September 2018 is expected to see the first UK high volume hydraulic fracturing for seven years when Cuadrilla fracks its first horizontal well in Lancashire. Also this month decisions are due on oil and shale gas sites and protest injunctions.
