The defence case in the trial of Caroline Lucas and four other anti-fracking campaigners is expected to begin tomorrow (Thursday).
So far, Brighton Magistrates Court has been hearing largely from officers involved in the policing operation at the protests against Cuadrilla’s activities at Balcombe last summer. Two more police officers are due to give evidence tomorrow morning, followed by legal argument.
The trial was scheduled to finish on Friday but District Judge Tim Pattinson said it was unlikely he would reach a verdict by then and the case would probably be adjourned.
