Rathlin Energy announced today it had given notice of the start of activities at a new well site in East Yorkshire.

In a brief statement on its website, the company said:

“Rathlin Energy (UK) Limited provided notice on Tuesday 17 March 2020 to East Riding of Yorkshire Council regarding the start of activities at the West Newton B wellsite.”

The company was required by a condition of its planning permission to notify the council at least 14 days before activities began.

The statement added:

“Rathlin Energy (UK) Limited will provide further operational updates on this website when appropriate.”

Earlier this year, East Riding of Yorkshire Council issued closure orders for three roads around the West Newton-B site until July 2021.

Planning permission for two wells at West Newton-B was granted in June 2015.

In December 2017, Rathlin told residents that work on the access road was due to be completed by March 2018.

But the only site work carried out so far has been some archaeological survey trenches. Another condition of the consent required work to begin by June 2020.

In November 2018, Rathlin said it would drill a second well at the nearby West Newton-A site before moving on to West Newton-B.

A flow test on the West Newton-A2 well was suspended in August 2020 after the focus of exploration switched from gas to oil.

  1. Good morning ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, i am posting this because there is vital information you need to know about the present Covid-19 pandemic we find ourselves in.

I make no apologies for posting this here, although the pandemic has little to do with fracking and its attendant alternatives at least on the technical side, but specifically, that this pandemic situation affects everyone, regardless of job, position, side, disposition, politics or ideology.

So, rather than repeat the childish assurances you may have heard about “sending corona-virus packing” or “turning the tide” or singing “happy birthday to you” twice while washing your hands.

Here is a link to Doctor John Campbell’s website in which he covers in great detail the situation and the pathology of a virus pandemic and how it affects us all, in simple terms and easy to understand concepts. if you are in the dark at all and feel that information is being concealed beneath simplistic aphorisms, then you will find Dr John Campbell’s videos informative and precise.

This is the sort of information we needed from the start of this pandemic, not inadequate simplistic political assurances. I have no connection with Dr. John Campbell at all, but i find his qualified and down to earth videos appropriately address the subject and that is almost entirely absent elsewhere.

Here is a link to the correct way to wash your hands as advised by the W.H.O.

If you have no symptoms and there is a local support group starting up, then perhaps get in touch with them by phone or text or e-mail and find out what you can do to help others less able to look after themselves. That may be just getting food and stocking and distributing from food banks. Getting medicines (If its not a relative, you will need written official permission from the patient and the GP to do that). Giving moral and humanitarian support and showing that people aren’t alone in this unprecedented situation.

Events such as these either bring out the worst in us, or the best. We see both emerging. Maybe consider that this almost unprecedented situation should bring about the best in us and act accordingly.

That is all i wanted to say.

Keep well and the best of health to you all.
