Launch of Frack Free United, an alliance of campaigners and communities opposed to fracking in advance of local elections in May. Founder Steve Mason said:
“With 14 counties under threat from fracking going to the polls in May, it is becoming clear that to stop the industry we have to change the minds of those in power or change the people in power making the decisions.
“I don’t want my kids fighting the same battle when they grow up. I see it as my duty to leave a positive future for them and industrialising our countryside is a long way from being positive.”
Event launch: 11am, outside the Worsley Arms, Main Street, Hovingham YO62 4LA. www.frackfreeunited.org or www.facebook.com/FrackFreeUnited
