  1. What’s happening this week, well writing on a Sunday evening it looks like the Saudis will take offence against accusations they murdered a journalist and this will raise the prospect of increasing geopolitical tensions and add a risk premium to the price of oil. To this can be added the onset of Iran sanctions in early November.

    Fracking due to start this week. At least in a few weeks time we will know whether onshore gas exploration can make a meaningful contribution to U.K. energy supplies.

  2. Lets hope that goes well Shalewatcher. So much misinformation from this cult antifrack narrative! Has anyone heard of science or evidence? (I mean proper science, eg from the BGS, or the EA, or HSE, or PHE, RAE and so on.

  3. This week Scottish Power shifts to 100% wind generation after the sale of their £700m Drax power station assets. And as if to mark the idiocy of this move the wind speed tomorrow in Scotland will be 4-6mph, barely enough to turn a turbine.
