Brockham workover notice

Angus Energy has given details today of plans to increase production at its Brockham oilfield in Surrey.

In a stockmarket statement, the company said preparations for a workover of the BRX4Z borehole were “well advanced”.

It said the rig was due to be mobilised in early November 2026. The workover is expected to take about three weeks. The operation will include perforation and acidisation of the Portland reservoir, Angus said.

If successful, the operation would bring BRX4Z into production, the company added.

The well, which is currently suspended, was drilled in January 2017 as a sidetrack to the BRX4 well.

It was controversial at the time because local campaigners and Surrey County Council said the well did not have planning permission. In September 2017, Angus Energy was granted part-restrospective planning permission for BRX4Z

In 2024, a separate planning application stated that BRX4Z did not flow commercial volumes of oil from the Kimmeridge clay. But interim accounts published earlier this year said preparations were underway for production from the shallower Portland reservoir.

Angus has an 80% operating interest in PL235, the licence covering the Brockham field near Dorking. The other investors, with 10% each, are Brockham Capital Limited and Terrain Energy Limited.
