Balcombe fracking meeting video posted

Balcombe Parish Council has posted a video of the first part of a meeting between villagers and the Environment Agency which discussed regulation at Cuadrilla’s oil exploration site. About 270 people attended the meeting, on October 9th, with more listening outside.

At the meeting, the Environment Agency confirmed that uranium had not been used at the Balcombe site and that it had banned Cuadrilla from using antimony trioxide, which is hazardous if it comes into contact with groundwater. The Agency also confirmed that it had permitted the anti-corrosion chemical oxirane, even though campaigners and villagers raised concerns about its potential hazards.
