Leading figures from the industry seeking to explore for shale gas are gathering in Liverpool this week for a two-day conference.
The Shale UK event includes speakers from IGas, Peel Oil and Gas, Cuadrilla Resources, Reach Central Scotland Gas and the industry representative body, UK Onshore Oil and Gas.
The conference, organised by the British Geological Society, will also hear from representatives from the Oil and Gas Authority, environmental and planning consultancies, the ReFINE research project, Campaign for the Protection of Rural England, West Sussex County Council, UK Energy Research Centre and the British Geological Survey.
Opening on Thursday (23 June 2016) at Liverpool Exhibition Centre, the event programme includes sessions on:
- Outcome of the 14 licensing round
- Below ground risks and impacts
- Securing planning permissions
- Industrialisation of the countryside
- Waste water treatment
- Site connectivity and infrastructure
- Communicating with the public
- Shale gas’s contribution to UK energy
- Financing and investment
