UK production of onshore oil was up in November 2024 but onshore gas was down, according to official figures just released.
The oil increase was because of a 5,000m3 (12%) rise in volume from the UK’s biggest onshore operator, Wytch Farm
A 27% fall in gas production from Infinis Energy’s coalmine vents contributed to the fall in gas production, along with a 15% fall at Star Energy’s Albury site.
Horse Hill in Surrey reported 65m3 of oil production, despite announcing that it had voluntarily suspended extraction in October 2024.

Wytch Farm
Wytch Farm’s monthly production rose 12% in November 2024, compared with October 2024. November 2024 saw the four highest production volumes in the preceding 12 months.

Wressle
Wressle saw monthly production rise in November 2024 for the first time since July 2024. But monthly volume in November 2024 was 62% down on the peak in January 2023.

Horse Hill
The Horse Hill operator, HHDL, reported that production had stopped in October 2024, following a ruling by the Supreme Court that the site’s planning permission had been quashed. But the NSTA data shows the company reported some oil production (65m3) for November 2024. This was about a third of the monthly average in the preceding 12 months. The site also produced and flared just under 2.5Ksm3 of associated gas in November 2024, also about a third of the monthly average of the preceding 12 months.

Gas

Saltfleetby

Monthly production at the biggest producing onshore gasfield fell for the third consecutive month. It was down 40% on the peak since production restarted in July 2023.
